Totton & Eling have lost four of their last six matches – but are still hot favourites to land the Southern Premier League Division 2 title !
They go into Saturday’s final match at relegation threatened Basingstoke & North Hants II with a 12-point lead over St Cross Symondians II, whose run-in form has mirrored their own.
Realistically, only a Totton defeat at May’s Bounty – and St Cross hammering Fair Oak – will enable the top two positions to be swapped.
Scott Baldwin was the star of the show as Hartley Wintney inflicted a six-wicket defeat on the season-long leaders.
He took 6-38 (and Anthony Parson 3-19) as Totton were dismissed for 135 (Billy Lightfoot 32) and then rattled off 68.
Fortunately for Totton, St Cross Symondians crashed to an 83-run defeat against relegation battlers South Wilts II (see separate story).
