GUY Jewell Cup holders Hartley Wintney bowed out of this year’s competition, when they were beaten by Rotherfield Park, whose 139-7 off 18 overs was underpinned by a half-century from Alton all-rounder Scott Myers, supported by Dan Scott’s 21.
James Darnell was the top Hartley bowler taking 3-30, backed up by Dan Nightingale with 2-18, but the 2019 winners could manage only 109-8, with Nightingale (28) top scoring. Tichborne Park’s Seb Newens took 4-25 and Ellis Ballinger 3-32 as RP clinched their semi-final slot.
However, the rain put paid to Monday’s semi-final tie against Hook and Newnham Basics A on Monday night, with Thursday, August 12 at May’s Bounty the rearranged date.
Basingstoke & North Hants will play the winner in the final on Sunday August 29.
