Is Hambledon run gun Henry Glanfield set to miss tomorrow’s top of the table Southern Premier Division 3 showdown with Portsmouth & Southsea at Ridge Meadow, 12.30 ?
Although Dons skipper Spencer le Clerq has not confirmed it, sources close to the cradle of cricket suggest the 274-run gun, who hit 111 against Trojans and another 90 against Basingstoke & North Hants II last week, won’t be appearing in the first v fourth contest.
If Glanfield doesn’t play, it will be a major blow to Hambledon, who have won all five games this season and are 18 points clear of second placed Gosport Borough, who host Hook & Newnham Basics.
Rumours are that Hambledon could have as many as three players making their first team debuts, while P & S expect to be at full strength.
Gosport Borough had hoped to include West Indian Denzil James against Hook & Newnham Basics II at Privett Park, but the St Lucian big hitter is in isolation.
Jacob Harris is in good nick for Gosport, but fears Hook all-rounder Dan Moore may have the Indian Sign over him.
Hook II: Light, Warner, T May, Moore, Allnutt, Neville, Wyatt, Murrell, Watts, Gardner, Shore.
Hythe & Dibden look to build on last weekend’s Jono Stovell inspired win at Tichborne Park with a home victory over Basingstoke & North Hants at Jones Lane.
Hythe & Dibden: T Richards, T Gates, M Young, Z Millar, J Stovell, W McKay, W Royan, S Redford, T Jones, N Vaughan, T Ndowora.
Winless Purbrook go to Langley Manor, with Tichborne Park eager to do the doubled over Trojans, against whom they have scored their only win so far, back on May 1.
