England Physical Disability star Hugo Hammond, pictured by Dave Vokes, cracked an unbeaten 122 – his maiden league century – as Alton II gave their British Gas Southern League Division 3 survival bid a significant boost.
Their eight-wicket win over troubled Hursley Park lifted them 16 points clear of bottom place and to within touching distance of Fair Oak.
Hammond led the way as Alton breezed past Hursley’s 221-4 with nine overs to spare. Nick Turner hit an unbeaten 76 for Hursley Park, for whom Paul Marks made 43 and Lee Wateridge 40.
