A trio of seasoned Basingstoke & North Hants cricketers have inspired Hampshire Seniors to a two-match winning start in the ECB 50-plus County Championship.
Andy Giles hit an undefeated 65 to guide the 50s to a seven-wicket win over Dorset (Tim Wheatley 3-34), while Keith Harris and skipper Keith Harsham were dominant in the equally emphatic victory over the Channel Islands.
Harris weighed in with a 5-20 return after Sparsholt raised Richard Headington (59) had provided the islanders with a positive start. The visitors fell away to 149 all out, a target Hampshire polished off with Harsham cracking an unbeaten 49 to enhance the earlier work of Sparsholt chairman Andy Worth (42) and Stu Shapland (35).
Next up for the 50s is a home match against Cornwall at Privett Park, Gosport, on Wednesday, 1pm.
