During these unprecedented times, the Hampshire Cricket Board has been working hard to provide reassurance, support and advice on how cricket clubs across the country can continue to function. Last week they released details of the Emergency Grant and Loan schemes, details of which can be found at www.ecb.co.uk/news/1648243/ecb-covid-19-announcements-and-updates. They do hope as many clubs as possible will take up this support.
Over the winter months, in anticipation of the season, some exciting developments to Play-Cricket have been made. Despite there currently being no cricket being played, over the next few weeks they will be sharing details of these developments with you, as well as providing you with some fresh content, and asking you to update some of your club details so that when cricket returns, we’re all ready to go with a bang.
NEW: Club website templates
In February the HCB told you about the new club templates that will enable you to have a mobile friendly, fully customised and up-to-date website. For those who have put effort into their existing websites, you will be able to keep these or choose to enable the new template. The new templates are structured on:
• A new Homepage featuring sections for announcements, community news, your Hall of Fame and a snapshot of fixtures, results and league tables.
• An About Us section to give some brief information about your club
• A Fixtures and Results section
• A Teams section
• A Statistics section
• A News & Docs section
The templates are now live and can be set up in your club’s Site Admin. To support you, they have created a video tutorial to show you exactly what you need to do. It can take as little as 5 minutes to update and you are encouraged to do so ahead of the return of cricket.
NEW: Play-Cricket YouTube Channel
The HCB knows that cricket clubs are run by volunteers who often wear multiple hats when managing their club, as well as juggling the work they do in cricket with full time jobs. As such, they want to ensure they’re supporting Play-Cricket admins as much as possible.
To improve this support, they’ve created a dedicated YouTube support channel, giving access to video tutorials on all Play-Cricket admin-related activities. There are now over 100 guides for you to access, and they will continue to add more over time.
During this period where no cricket is being played, the HCB would encourage all admins to access the videos and update club sites where required. Our Help Desk are on hand to support with any questions you may have. Stay well, and we look forward to sharing more updates and content with you over the coming weeks.
Access to the website template is in the link which includes a video tutorial.
