Hampshire League cricketers are bracing themselves for earlier start times this summer.
A proposal for all matches in both the County and Regional Divisions to start at 1 o’clock got unanimous thumbs up from clubs at the league’s annual meeting.
But clubs ditched the idea of reorganising the HCL from its present 18-team division structure to ten sides in each league playing each other on a home and away basis.
The length of regional division matches has been reduced by two overs to 40 per side, with bowling restrictions.
Player loans to assist short-handed clubs will be allowed in the Regional Divisions, but a proposal to vary the Laws of the Game to allocate two runs for wides and not re-bowl them except in the last over of an innings didn’t find favour with the clubs.
