Hampshire Seniors are off to a winning start in the Seevent Over-60s national county cricket championships, beating Sussex by 49 runs at Middleton. Half-centuries by Mike Swain (68) and Geoff Beale (58) underpinned Hampshire’s powerful 284-4. Martin Hall made a tidy 41 before Jon Floyd (43) and Paul Kerley (35) added quick runs in a pre-team burst. Lewes Priory batsman Richard Seager responded with an unbeaten 105 as Sussex fell well short at 235-5.
