Hampshire Seniors are within one win of topping their West group in the Seveent National Sixties Cricket Championships after a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over 2015 outright winners Somerset at Hursley Park.
Rowledge all-rounder Chris Yates took 3-30 as Somerset were restricted to 183-8 (Mike Richards 46) – a total Hampshire chased down after Bashley’s Iain Britton (53) led a breezy 81-run start with Mike Swain, who went on to make 74.
Basingstoke & North Hants all-rounder Keith Harsham was 30 not out when Hampshire crossed the finish line with seven overs to spare.
Hampshire, who have won seven of their nine group matches, will be assured of top spot – and a home draw in the opening national round of the competition – if they win their last re-arranged game against lowly Devon, Tuesday's scheduled match at Hursley Park having been washed out.
