Hampshire Academy product Tom Prest has been given an opportunity to stake his claim for a place in England's ICC Under-19 World Cup squad through his selection for a five-match Young Lions ODI Series against Sri Lanka in Colombo later this month.
The 18-year old from Wimborne played in the ODI Series against the West Indies in September, captaining the side on several occasions, but managed only 33 runs with the bat. He did, though, underline his spin bowling credentials with separate spells of 5-18 and 3-36.
The U19 World Cup starts on January 16 with England paired against defending champions Bangladesh. They later play Canada and the UAE, all three games to be played in St Kitts on January 16, 18 and 20 January 2022. The knockout phase of the tournament is in Antigua.
