Hampshire's young cricketers are battling to save their opening ECB Under-17 County Championship match against Somerset at Basingstoke after finding themselves on the receiving end of an amazing record individual competition score by Millfield School's Fin Trenouth.
Having been bowled out for 179 (Tom Scriven 79), Hampshire reduced Somerset to 34-3 at tea on day one, but spent the second day chasing leather across the May's Bounty outfield as Trenouth struck a quite magnificent 330 not out, the first recorded treble century score in the competition. The Somerset youngster cracked 13 sixes (one of which landed on the roof of a house in Bounty Road) and 33 fours as the visitors advanced to 477 all out.
Hampshire closed at 141-1 at stumps on day two (157 runs behind), with Felix Organ 86 not out and Miles Kantolinna 40 not out.
