Seven days after scoring a mountainous 520-5 against the Isle of Wight, the Hampshire Pathways have crashed out of the ECB Under-18 Cup after being beaten by three wickets by Dorset at Hamworthy.
Dismissed for 191, Hampshire were blown away by Dorset openers Ben Rogers and Finn Gordon, whose virtually untroubled 130-run stand laid the path for an eye catching home win.
Unsettled by a two-wicket new-ball burst by Joe Huns (2-34) which saw them wobble at 41-3, Hampshire rallied as Eddie Jack (67) and Basingstoke's Neil Shelar (27) lifted the score to 127-4 with an 86-run partnership.
Ben Foster (18) and Ethan Baker (14) chipped in as Hampshire were bowled out for 191 in the 44th over, spinnr Gordon and Jake Stainer-Reid also taking two wickets.
Left-hand duo Ben Rogers (65) and Finn Gordon (74) broke Hampshire spirits with their century-plus stand, but Rogers' dismissal - stumped off Zach Basey (3-24) - triggered a collapse which saw Dorset lose five wickets for six runs, the emerging Zack Gadsby taking 3-42.
The unflappable Gordon glued Dorset's innings together, hitting seven fours before being seventh man out and his side within touching distance of victory.
