Hampshire's young cricketers will face Warwickshire in the ECB Under-17 County Championship final at Arundel Castle next Wednesday and Thursday. They won their semi-final against Essex by virtue of a superior run-rate after a torrential storm led to the game being abandoned at lunch on the second day.
Hampshire were nicely placed at 107-2 in response to an Essex total of 261 all out (Charlie Gwynne 4-52) when play was abandoned after 39 of the 100 overs. Elijah Samuel (42) and Ben Duggan (29) provided a firm base for Hampshire, with Felix Organ 39 not out when the rains came.
Warwickshire beat Derbyshire by four wickets in the other semi-final tie. Derby rallied from 81-6 to post 271, a total Warwickshire overhauled with ten overs to spare.
