Hampshire Under-17s are through to the ECB County Championship semi-finals after thrashing Devon by an innings and 70 runs at Totton & Eling’s Southern Gardens ground.
They posted 367 in between twice bowling Devon out, initially for 169 and then 128 in their second innings.
Harry Petrie (4-41) and Josh Croom (3-45) took the bowling credits as Hampshire took full advantage of favourable first morning bowling conditions to dismiss the West Country visitors for 169 (Jack Moore 60).
Tom Prest’s 99, which contained 20 boundaries, swept Hampshire into an overnight first innings lead before the innings wobbled with three wickets falling for nine runs, 186-3 becoming 195-6.
But promising Hartley Wintney all-rounder Harry Broderick (74) and Mo Abbas (60) responded with a seventh-wicket stand of 115 which enabled Hampshire to reach 367, a formidable first innings lead of 198.
Devon were rolled out for 128 in less than 33 overs second time around, with man-of-the-match Tom Prest taking 3-25, George Pardoe 2-21 and Josh Croom 2-23.
