HAMPSHIRE YCs START ECB CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENCE

1/7/2016

Hampshire’s young cricketers launch their defence of the ECB County Championship against Somerset at Basingstoke & North Hants on Monday (11am) against the backdrop of disappointment from their mathematical elimination from the 50-over County Cup by their West Country visitors.
They thought they had done enough to qualify for a home semi-final tie next month after following up a handsome win in Worcestershire by winning the second match of a badly rain affected south-west group by beating Devon at Seaton last weekend.
But it transpires that Somerset, who also won twice, have topped the group through a slightly superior run-rate.
Ironically, when the team met at Hursley Park in late May, Hampshire were steaming along at 114-8 after only 18 overs when rain halted play.
Hampshire’s squad for the three-day game is: Miles Kantolinna, Elijah Samuel, Felix Organ, Tom Scriven, Harry Gadd, Charlie Gwynn, Patrick Holly, Alex Bone, George Pardoe, Zac Organ, Olly Rankin, Jack Campbell.
Hampshire Under-15s bid to extend their winning start in the ECB County Cup when they host Devon at New Milton’s Fernhill ground, on Sunday, 11am.
Hampshire: Alex Ayers, Alex Brown, Jovan Dhariwal, Miles Kantolinna, Joe Kooner-Evans, Patrick Lewis, Fletcha Middleton, Zac Organ, George Pardoe, Cam Robertson, Oli Southon, Ollie Waddington.
