South Wilts teenager Jack Stearman has struck his first century on Australian soil, scoring 121 for his adopted Melbourne club Parkdale against McKinnon in the Southern Bayside League Division 3.
Stearman, who is spending a gap winter in Australia before studying Russian at university next autumn, previously hit 108 for South Wilts against the Hampshire Academy in 2018, prior to which he twice hit hundreds in U15 cricket and two more in the Hampshire League. Parkdale posted 264-9 before bowling McKinnon out for 111.
South Wilts teammate Will Harries is also playing his trade Down Under this winter and has taken seven wickets and made some handy down the order knocks for Parkdale's first grade side.
With 15 wickets, including a 4-25 return against New City this weekend, South Wilts’ pace bowler Luke Evans is St Patrick’s leading bowler in Albury cricket, close to the NSW/Victoria state border. He served up his best delivery in early November when his daughter Ella Sophia was born.
