HARTLEY WINTNEY SINK TO FIVE-WICKET LEFTIE IN THE MUD

1/6/2018

Promoted Hartley Wintney’s search for their first Southern Premier League Division One win of the season goes on, after they were beaten by six wickets by high flying visitors Bournemouth.
Having been put into bat on a sopping wet surface, they lost teenage captain Will Kerr with just four on the board and were soon 21-2 as Will Ross followed.
Top scorer opener Jamie Teale (12) was only one of three players to make it into double figures, as the home batsmen had no answer to lft-arm seamer David Kidner (5-28).  Scott Baldwin (11) was another Kidner victim as he reduced Hartley to 49-7.
Australian Ben Earney (11*) tried to add much needed runs but he ran out partners as Ed Denham (2-10) picked up some late wickets as Hartley were all out for 67.
The Bournemouth reply did not get off to the best of starts as opener Nick Park was snapped up by Baldwin, thanks to a Teale catch with just one run scored.  St Klida teenager Earney produced a great spell taking 3-20 off eight overs, as the visitors were rocking at 38-4.  Tom West (22 not out) and Denham (17 not out) saw the Dorset side to victory in 16 overs.
