Angus Brown produced a stunning all-round performance, taking four wickets before cracking a match defining century to set up Hartley Wintney’s Southern Premier League Division 2 victory over Paultons.
His 4-34 return included four of Paultons' top five batsmen and his 101, which effectively set up Hartley’s three-wicket win, contained five sixes and 11 fours and was scored off 83 balls.
Probably no surprise it’s made Angus Brown this website’s first Cricketer of the Week award – a tasteful etched mounted glass cricket ball.
Robbie Pike (60) and Cameron Grierson (44) top scored in Paultons’ 192-7, which Hartley Wintney were chasing down comfortably all the time the England PD youngster was at the crease.
But when Brown was trapped leg before at 164-2 by left-arm spinner Andrew Denney (4-35), HW went into freefall, losing five wickets for 13 runs before the promising Roy Cockram’s 28 not out got them across the line.
