The Guy Jewell Cup will remain in Hartley Wintney's trophy cabinet for the next 15 months or so following the predictable decision to cancel this season’s Finch Group sponsored T20 competition in the light of the rapidly escalating coronavirus pandemic.
The organisers reckoned that, if any club cricket takes place at all this summer, it will not be until mid to late July and this will leave insufficient time to get the competition played.
The Guy Jewell & Cyril Thompson Memorial Trophy finals are held annually at Basingstoke & North Hants’ May’s Bounty Ground every August bank holiday weekend, with Hartley Wintney (pictured) comfortably beating the Bountymen in last season’s final.
