Havant all-rounder Richard Hindley has become the first bowler to take 500 wickets in ECB Southern Premier Division cricket.
He reached the milestone when he had Azim Chowdhury (28) stumped by Jez Bulled in Havant’s eventual 37-run defeat at Burridge – a result which kept the hosts in with a sniff of pipping St Cross Symondians to the championship.
Hindley returned a typically frugal 2-22 off his ten overs and later top scored as Havant (129) fell short of a Burridge total of 166.
South African Hilio De Abreu (47) top scored for Burridge before Sully White (3-18) and spinner Richard Lock (4-18) got to work bowling Havant out for 129 (Chris Morgan 30).
* Alton's Julian Ballinger and Dan Goldstraw have also passed the 500-wicket mark but their respective hauls are across the board in SPL cricket, Richard Hindley's is confined to the Premier Division itself.
