HCB CLUB FIXTURE SUPPORT SUMMER 2020

3/7/2020

Hampshire Cricket Board (HCB) has been approached by a number of clubs for help with arranging local club run open age fixtures IF/WHEN a return to cricket (under the ECB roadmap Step 4) is permitted.
While HCB does not have the capacity to manage local competitions across the county, they can support club-run fixture groups in accordance with Government and England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) COVID19 guidance in place at the time.  There is no requirement for clubs to participate (clubs are welcome to use existing Hampshire League fixtures as friendlies) and this is in addition to the league cup for Southern Premier League clubs.   However, this approach maximises any opportunity for competitive cricket in 2020.
About these games
1. Format is to be agreed between clubs but would recommend a maximum 40 overs per side; short formats are encouraged to allow maximum participation/ground use for all cricket (open, junior, women, girls, friendlies, disability)
2. Win/lose based on ECB rules: see Generic 20 Overs Playing Conditions/Generic 40 Overs Playing Conditions
3. Matches can be played on any mutually agreeable day of the week and venue, and rained off games can be re-arranged by mutual agreement
4. Matches start from Saturday 25th July*, last date to play is Monday 31 August (*subject to date on which government permits re-start of recreational cricket)
5. Win/win by forfeit = 4 points; Tie/no result = 2 points; Loss = 1 point; Forfeit = 0 points
6. If teams finish level on points, Net Run Rate (NRR) will determine final group placings (please click here for an NRR calculator)
Hampshire Cricket Board is responsible for:
1. Taking club entries via google form by 9am Tuesday 7th July
2. Arranging teams into groups involving maximum 30 minutes travel wherever possible
3. Circulating contact information for teams in each group
4. Publishing draft fixtures by 9am Tuesday 14th July and generating tables on Play-Cricket
Clubs are responsible for:
Pre-match:
1. Confirming draft fixture dates/venues/start times with each other, arranging any changes and updating Play-Cricket with any changes
2. Agreeing match format and any changes to ECB Generic Rules
During the match:
1. Participating in the spirit of ECB’s Get The Game On and the MCC Spirit of Cricket
2. Resolving any rules disputes/disciplinary matters (hopefully none will arise as we will all be so pleased just to be playing)
Post-match:
1. Entering full scorecards and results on Play-Cricket within 24 hours of the end of the match
