Alton's Jude Wright made 117 to put U18s on victory path. Howard Gadsby.
Alton all-rounder Jude Wright thought his second-day century might put Hampshire on course for a victory over Sussex in the ECB Under-18 County Championships at Winchester College - but how wrong he turned out to be !
His 117, compiled after Hampshire had dropped to 83-5 in response to a Sussex first innings total of 180, underpinned an eventual score of 323, which gave Hampshire a handy 143-run lead.   Sussex recovered from an overnight 178-5 to post 308 and set Hampshire 165 to win.

Hampshire began the second day at 115-5 - a total which bulked to 248 with Wright and Joe Eckland (60) putting on 165 for the sixth wicket.  Wright hit three sixes and ten fours, adding a further 43 in a useful late stand with Bashley's Ethan Baker (23).
Sussex were struggling to save the match at 178-6 at stumps on day two, despite a century by West Indian teenager J Reiffer, who made 107 only be be dismissed just before the close.
Tail end resistance took Sussex to 303 - Bashley (Rydal) leggie Ethan Baker taking 4-36 - leaving Hampshire to make 165 for victory on the final afternoon. They didn't make it ...
