Hook successfully defended 165 before bowling Alton out for 99 in a weather trimmed 30-over affair at the Jubilee Ground.
Their competitive score, made at just under a run a ball, owed much to Jack Murrell (30), who rescued Hook after three wickets had fallen at 120 and the earlier efforts Jordan Hobday (25), Harry Robson (24) an several other middle-order batsmen in danger of going to waste.
The former Paultons all-rounder smacked two sixes and three boundaries before Tom South (4-23) mopped up the tail. It left Alton a testing 5.5 runs an over chase.
South (32) had Alton comfortably placed at 62-1 – but through some undistinguished batting, the Brewers collapsed in an amazing heap after that, with nine wickets falling for 37 runs !
Daniel Moore (3-15) triggered Alton’s downfall by having Anhay Gonella (14) caught by Harry Robson. South fell immediately after hitting a full-toss down square leg's throats. Soon after Scott Myers holed out on the boundary.
Aniket Divecha (3-26), Moore and latterly Richard Willcock (2-3) worked their way through the Alton batting, the last six wickets tumbling for 13 runs and the Brewers to 99 all out.
