Crowned Southern Premier League Division One champions after a two-wicket win over Andover (they actually had the title wrapped up after taking four Andover wickets to secure the two bonus points they needed), their second team defeated Oakley by 25 runs to win the Cyril Thompson T20 Memorial Trophy at May's Bounty.
Kevin Light holds the Cyril Thompson T20 Cup - named in memory of the much cherished Cyril, who ran the Guy Jewell competition for over 50 years - after Hook & Newnham Basics B defeated Oakley in a high scoring final at May's Bounty.
Hook's winning 167 run total was based around Alex Brown (52) and Ben Allnutt (51), who picked up the thread from 88-3. Oakley rallied from 103-8 to reach 142 all out, Haig Franklin being named Man of the Match after taking 4-27.
Hook's next mission comes on Saturday when they host Ropley, needing a win and a decent points haul to maintain a slender advantage over Gosport Borough in the chase for the second County Division One promotion slot.
