Following in his elder brother’s footsteps. That’s Scott Currie (right), who has been picked to play for the South & West in next week’s ECB Super 4s Under-17 regional tournament at Loughborough.
Twelve months ago, Brad (left) trod the same path and, after a hugely successful double-winning ECB Under-17 County Championship, has joined Surrey on an academy contract.
The Poole raised teenage brothers are both new-ball bowlers – ironically, Brad bowls left-arm quick and Scott right.
They both spent their embryo years with Poole, but have since moved up to the Southern Premier League – Brad with Bashley (Rydal) and Scott with the Hampshire Academy.
Brad, who was due to play for title chasing Bashley at St Cross Symondians today, has enjoyed a successful past week, taking five Middlesex 2nd XI wickets, while Scott has been playing regularly for both the Academy and Hampshire’s junior age group sides.
The pair played against each other in an SPL match at the Ageas Bowl in June and may well lock horns again in the return ‘white ball’ game at Bashley in two weeks time.
“We didn’t get a chance to bowl against each other last time, but hopefully our back-yard ‘Test’ matches will be for real next time we square up,” Brad smiled.
