Hursley Park reckon it will cost them over £8,000 to replace grounds machinery stolen after a recent break-in at their Quarters ground.
All four of the garages which house the club’s grounds equipment were broken into with a sit-on mower, petrol strimmers, along with 200 litres of diesel stolen.
Intruders also broke into the pavilion taking an entire supply of soft drinks and snacks, along with some alcohol. The club is still in the process of compiling a full inventory check.
Hursley Park provides a substantial amount of recreational cricket, fielding four Hampshire League teams on Saturdays, with a full Sunday fixture list, and fielding numerous boys and girls junior teams.
The club is also a hub for women’s cricket in the county, with Hursley Park arguably the most successful ladies team in Hampshire.
Hambledon’s ground at Ridge Meadow has also been targeted in the past few days.
