INDIVIDUAL AWARDS UP FOR GRABS AS CURTAIN FALLS

Alton’s Julian Ballinger is homing in on the Southern Electric Premier Division bowling award.
He had bagged 43 wickets prior to the Brewers’ final match of the season against champions South Wilts and will win the award – provided fellow spinner Sam Thomson doesn’t produce a career-best return in Bashley Rydal’s second placed decider with Havant.
Ballinger shared the Premier Division award with Havant’s Richard Hindley and Alex Senneck (South Wilts) in 2006, but was outright Division 1 winner the previous season.
Most of the annual awards are cut and dried – but the batting and bowling silverware in Premier Division 2 were all up for grabs.
Portsmouth’s opener Jack Marston (563) and Fawley captain Tom Gates (550) were going head-to-head for the batting prize.
But it’s even closer in the bowling department with Portsmouth’s Vickram Dawson and OTs Jody Brown locked on 36 wickets and Fawley’s Wayne Royan with 35.
Overseas cricketers are not eligible to receive Premier League awards.
