Isle of Wight spin all-rounder Ben Attrill has struck his first fifty on Australian soil - but his battling 62 for his adopted WA club Denmark proved in vain as the Danes fell to a 57-run defeat by Royals in the Albury & District 45-over competition.
Batting first wicket down, Attrill [left], who plays his Southern Premier Division cricket on the mainland for Lymington, batted almost the entire length of Denmark's 156 and was tenth out, having struck five boundaries in scoring 62 off 106 balls. The Danes, chasing Royals 213-7, collapsed from 83-1, with Attrill holding the innings together.
Having spent last winter playing near Queenstown on New Zealand's South Island, Havant's Harry Gadd has crossed the Tasman Sea and pitched up with Charlestown, who play in the Newcastle District competition in Northern New South Wales.
Gadd has so made made scores of 42 (Waratah Mayfield) and 44 (University) besides taking five wickets for Charlestown, who lie third in the log.
