Bashley (Rydal) captain Michael Porter has a 32-run shortfall to make up against St Cross Symondians  on Saturday  if he is to is win the ECB Southern Premier League’s Batsman of the Year award.
The weather abandonment of last weekend’s match at South Wilts left the 21-year old Dorset cricketer trailing behind Ben Walker, whose 98 against the Hampshire Academy took the left-hander’s run aggregate to 645 – and pushed Havant a step nearer the title.
Forty-wicket Lymington all-rounder Matt Metcalfe is favourite to win the Bowling prize, with Bramshaw-based Tom Arnold currently three victims ahead in the wicket-keeping stakes.
With Basil Akram away in Sri Lanka, in-form Andover batsman Glyn Treagus is a near certain to finish the Division 1 lead run scorer.
