Harry Munt biffed a rescue act maiden Southern Premier League century to leave promoted Hartley Wintney remain rooted to the bottom after a narrow eight-run defeat at Liphook & Ripsley, their fifth in a row.
Liphook, who face Berkshire’s Cookham Dean in the Village Cup on Sunday (1pm), were rocking at 14-3 before Harry Munt struck two sixes and 11 fours in his 102 and shared important stands with Sam Franks and Sean Burton (31) as the hosts made 208.
Hartley Wintney dropped to 39-3, but George Neave and Quincy Stephens, though pacey, sprayed the ball everywhere, the visitors benefitted from a staggering 45 extras, all bar ten of them wides.
