Bashley (Rydal) share joint top spot in the ECB Southern Premier Division after making hard work of an eventual four-wicket win over Basingstoke & North Hants at the BCG.
After five completed fixtures, Bashley share pole position with South Wilts – both have 93 points – one more than Lymington, whom they visit in the eagerly awaited Kings of the Forest derby at the LSG on Saturday, 11am.
Left-armer Brad Currie (3-40) and Bournemouth University team-mate Dan Goodey, with a Premier Division best 6-50, routed Basingstoke inside 38 overs.
Currie made light of bowling with a fractured middle finger to rip out Ben Thane, Dan Belcher and David Griffiths to leave the visitors 22-3.
Goodey, the Devon Minor Counties seamer, then began to make his impression, bowling Jordan Hobday (15) and then having South African Brad Porteous caught to leave the Bountymen 42-5.
A short recovery from Mitch Stokes (8) and top scorer Brad Neal (18) was ended, as both were caught behind by Tom Jacques in quick succession, leaving the Bountymen 69 with seven wickets down.
Best stand
Tom Allan (15) and Joe Oates (6) then looked to start building a useful partnership, before Goodey (6-50) bowled both in the space of one run.
As last man Lawrence Benge strolled to the centre, with the visitors still nine short of 100, but along with Ash Neal they enjoyed the best stand of the Basingstoke innings as they added 30.
The innings being ended when Benge (14) was bowled by Mitch Wilson, leaving Neal unbeaten on 15 and the Bountymen all out for 121.
It left Bashley with a target of 122 in 88 overs and like Basingstoke they suffered early on.
Both their openers were back in the pavilion with 30 scored, after Ben Walker (23) was bowled by Allam and Porteous did likewise to dismiss Tim Taylor (6).
This brought Patrick Holly (37) and Michael Porter (34) together and the pair set about building a match winning third wicket stand worth 64 runs.
The introduction of Ash Neal (2-29) and Oates (2-22) saw a mid-innings wobble, as the home side went from 110-3 to 117-6. However, with the finish line in sight, Friend with an unbeaten 15, made sure of victory.
