Josh Digby produced an ECB Southern Premier Division best return of 6-36 as Bashley (Rydal) moved into third place in the log with a 44-run win over Alton at the Jubilee Ground.
His 18-over spell came after Scott Myers (57) and teenager Abhay Gonella (25) had eased the Brewers to 51-1 in response to Bashley’s 190 all out.
But once Brad Currie (2-29) and Mitch Wilson (2-44) had opened the can, Alton fell apart, with the dismissal of half-centurion Myers at 102-6 a key point.
Digby, bowling his right-arm off-spin, gradually cut through, taking four of the last five Alton wickets to fall before left-armer Currie ended proceedings by bowling Otago’s Max Bacon (24).
Bashley’s 190 was build around Ben Walker (86), who made his best score since a pre-season switch from Havant, and Tim Taylor (44), who came together after Bacon had removed Tom Friend third ball.
The pair took Bashley to 98-1 before leg-spinner Jack Myers (5-50) began to create significant inroads and eventually reduce the New Forest visitors to 190 all out.
It as Alton’s fifth successive defeat and leaves the Brewers anchored to the Premir Division basement, effectively 14 points adrift of promoted Bournemouth.
