Hook & Newnham Basics are through to the last eight of the Voneus Broadband National Village Championship after a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Goatacre at the King George V Ground.
A 131-run opening stand between Sam Lockwood (69) and Harry Warner, who remained unbeaten with 69, took Hook to within sight of Goatacre's 220 all out - a target they chased down with almost four overs to spare.
Goatacre, Lord's winners back in 1990, made a confident start through Jack Haines (30) and Ross Dixie (31), but a tidy three-wicket spell by Will Gardner (3-28) led to a promising 100-2 becoming 148-7.
Conor Taylor's 62 kept the Goatacre pot boiling but after he fell to Lewis Watts it was left to Ewen Kenny to smash four sixes in a quick fire 44 to lift the perennial Wiltshire village champions to a competitive 220 all out, 41 runs coming off the last four overs.
Lockwood aned Warner picked off the Goatacre bowlers with contempt, 74 runs coming off the initial ten overs. By drinks, Hook were 114 without loss and well on their way.
Skipper Lockwood departed immediately after the break having struck a six and ten fours in a run-a-ball 69.
Rupes Armstrong (19) and Harry Robson (20) fell to the spin of Haines, but Warner was always in control and appropriately hit the winning boundary to finish with 69 not out.
