Ben Johns set up Calmore Sports’ emphatic 109-run Premier/League 1 cup win over Lymington by carrying his bat for an unbeaten 115 – his sixth Southern League century.
The young left-hander, who makes a habit of notching hundreds on the opening day of the season (albeit this one was a bit later than normal), struck four sixes and 12 fours as Calmore piled up 207-8 before shooting a relatively young Lymington out for 98.
Debutant Ben Fisher (22) and James Manning (20) gave support, while youngsters Josh Royan (3-25) and Charlie Inglis (3-40) shared six of the Calmore wickets.
South African Yannick De Mezieres Lepervanche (4-31) quickly removed Lymington opening pair Ben Rogers and Ryan Scott, leaving Royan (29) the only visiting batsman to make a relatively meaningful contribution. Fisher (3-6) and Ben Perry (3-6) cleaned up.
