South Wilts’ seamer Matt Burton is Hampshire 2nd XIs leading wicket-taker and fifth overall in the County Second XI Championship averages.
The 25-year old from Farley, who harbours hopes of a county professional contract, has taken 21 wickets for Hampshire this season and added to his tally in two recent appearances for Worcestershire.
He took 3-25 against Glamorgan (in total four in the match), figures which helped Worcestershire to an emphatic victory at New Road and napped one in each innings of a rain affected visit to Liverpool (Northern CC), where the Pears played Lancashire. Burton hopes to be invited back for Worcestershire’s second team matches in September.
