Loperwood Park bound Stoke Green reached the semi-finals of Voneus Village Cup for the first time in their history after completing a five-wicket victory over Foxton in the last eight.
Alex Hooley scored a half-century to help Cambridgeshire winners Foxton post a strong score of 192-8. But the Cambridgeshire hosts had no answer for Saqlain Basharat (59) and Stoke Green skipper Pavinder Bhachu (63), who shared a 101-run fifth-wicket stand to help their side secure the win with 37 balls to spare.
Based on the outskirts of Slough, Stoke Green are the current leaders of the Thames Valley League, having won seven and lost twice this season.
In the other semi-final, Pembrokeshire side Neyland host hot favourites Houghton Main, from Yorkshire, who won the trophy in 2006 and were beaten finalists in 2019.
It’s free entry to Calmore’s semi-final tie on Sunday, 1300. There will be ample car parking inside Loperwood Park, where refreshments will be on tap throughout the day.
