Southern Vipers starlet Katie George is celebrating her first wickets in British Gas Southern League cricket.
The 18-year old left-arm seamer took 4-16 in her fourth appearance for Totton & Eling against Division 2 neighbours Langley Manor at Southern Gardens.
Langley Manor were 148-4 when she clean bowled Steve Harris (36) before removing Luke Mooney for a second ball duck.
Tommy Spencer, trapped leg before, and Nick Wheeler (caught behind) before the Manor were dismissed for 209.
Katie, who is hoping to be in the Vipers’ starting line up for next month’s opening Kia T20 Women’s Super League title defence against Western Storm, also got a chance to show off her batting skills before Totton conceded a 31-run defeat.
Totton effectively only had precious batting bonus points to play at 131-8, but she hit an unbeaten 17 and added handy ninth-wicket runs with Kumodak Sharma before stumps at 178-8.
“It was vital we got an extra batting point as this league is going to be tight and every point we get is going to be key,” Katie reflected.
Katie's next match is against her previous club OTs & Romsey at the Romsey Sports Centre on Saturday, 1pm.
