Havant cricket and the local school teaching profession is mourning the death of Ken Hoad, who enjoyed a distinguished career as Head of Geography at the Portsmouth Northern Grammar School for Boys and subsequently taught at Mayfield School, where he coached the 1st XI soccer team.
An accomplished left-hand batsman and wicketkeeper, Mr Hoad represented Havant cricket at every level.
He was Havant’s fixture secretary for many years and was made a vice-president for his contribution to the cricket club.
There is a private burial at East Meon Sustainability Centre on Tuesday (3 November) and a celebration of Ken’s life at the Churchillian on Portsdown Hill at 2pm.
