Henry Bartlett, back on the Steephill scene for the first time since 2015, has been named Cricketer of the Week after following up his maiden century with a three-wicket haul which culminated in Andover surrendering their unbeaten four match start to the Southern Premier Division 1 campaign.
He made a career-best 123 in Ventnor's 299-9 and later returned an important 3-51 as Andover fell agonisingly 12 runs short after a gallant chase.
Bartlett, who hit four sixes and 13 fours, held Ventnor together from 73-4 and with support from Ben Attrill (38) and Ross Whyte and Hugh Calloway (both 26) eased the islanders to 299-9.
Glyn Treagus (51) got Andover off to a decent start, but it was Zimbabwean Richmond Mutambami (85), below, who kept the Lions in the hunt. Josh Williams chipped in with 42, but Andover were not quite able to maintain the required scoring rate and fell just short.
