Langley Manor

Langley Manor drove a spoke into Totton & Eling’s British Gas Southern League Division 2 promotion prospects with a 31-run derby win at Southern Gardens.
But Totton remain top, eight points ahead of Old Tauntonians & Romsey, who pulled off an escape act before winning at Trojans.
Promoted Langley were mauled by eight wickets by Totton on the opening day of the season, but they successfully defended a relatively modest 209.
The Manor’s total was largely due to middle-order trio Chris Thomason (36), Steve Harris (32) and second teamer Steve Purnell, who made 44 not out before Katie George (4-16) ripped through the lower ranks.
Totton dropped to 76-7 (Mark Mbofana 36) against teenager spinner Tommy Spencer (3-21) and Luke Mooney (2-24).
The game was up by then, but Kumodak Sharma’s 57 not out and some useful late runs by Katie George, raised the total to 178-8 and cut the loss deficit to 31 runs.
Second placed OTs & Romsey collapsed to 67-7 against Trojans pair Dan Heritage (3-22) and Syed Mahmood (2-19) at Stoneham Lane.
But Charlie King held firm and, after five big sixes, hit an unbeaten 78 and with Keith Trodd (40) alongside, guided OTs to 180-8.
Trojans offered little in reply and were dismissed for 126, with Matt Bampton, Jody Brown and the Newman brothers, Pete and Rob taking two wickets each.
