A host of former International cricketers will be on show on Southampton Waterside on Friday 9 August when the Lashings World XI plays Fawley in a T20 Challenge match at the Holbury Sports Ground.
Among the players in the Lashings squad are West Indies duo Tino Best and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ireland’s Niall O’Brien, Pakistan internationals Saqlain Mustaq, Abdul Razzaq and Yassir Arafat, former England cricketers Nick Compton, Chris Lewis, Devon Malcolm and Jack Richards, and South Africa left-armer Charl Willoughby.
It’s a huge undertaking for Fawley CC, who are looking to attract a main sponsor for the event.
Captain Callum Earl says: “The tables for the day are already selling well, but we really do need a main sponsor. If anyone knows a company that might like to support us, please let me know [callumearl16@gmail.com].”
“The day will start with the Lashings players arriving at 10am to do a couple of hours coaching with our juniors. Details of the sessions will be available nearer the time.”
The main event will start from 12.30pm when up to 300 guests will be joined by the Lashings players and guest speaker Henry Blofeld for a 3 course lunch.
The event will take place in a marquee on the Club field. The caterers are local with many years experience of putting on large events.
During the lunch there will be opportunities to bid for auction items, take part in games, all hosted by the Lashing ex-international cricket players.
Once the meal is over the T20 game will take place with Fawley taking on the Lashings World XI, with Henry Blofeld providing live commentary.
Earl added: “We would love to discuss any potential sponsorship interest further and provide details around the packages on offer, to anyone interested.”
