Old Tauntonians & Romsey have been hit by a massive 25-point deficit after administrative slip ups inadvertently led to them fielding ineligible players in the Southern Premier League Cup West Division 2/3 defeats by Bashley (Rydal) and Fair Oak.
Its left them with a minus 13 points tally ahead of the round 4 visit of unbeaten Trojans – the oldest cricketing rivalry on the region – to the Romsey Sports Centre.
Trojans lead the West group field one point ahead of Bashley (Rydal) and two from Fair Oak, the other sides to have won both their opening games.
Bashley (Rydal) are boosted by the presence of spin all-rounder Patrick Holly and George Wilson (pictured) against Hythe & Dibden at the BCG, but James Turner (who made 60 against Paultons last week) and big hitting Sam Stroud are missing.
Bashley (Rydal): Tom O’Sullivan, Patrick Holly, Patrick Lewis, Jacob Gordon, Simon Watkins, George Wilson, Saif Achakzai, Neil Taylor, Tom Harris, Ethan Baker, Ben Fletcher.
Fair Oak, bubbling after consecutive wins over Fawley and OTs & Romsey, give teenage spin all-rounder Monty McKenzie is spurs against Paultons at Whitemoor Lane.
Monty will play alongside elder brother Greg, who smashed an array of sixes off the OTs attack last weekend.
Paultons skipper Josh Metcalfe will be looking for a vast improvement from his batsmen, with only Nathan Feltham – scorer of that staggering six-strewn 137 against South Wilts in mid-July – the only player to have scored more than 25 in an innings so far.
Paultons: Metcalfe, Rogers, Hamid, Lee, Drake, Pike, Richman, Feltham, J Holgate, M Holgate, Denney.
Fair Oak: G McKenzie, M McKenzie, E Kemp, Hughes, Gwynn, Watson, Bullough, R Oxley, R Featherstone, Hawkings, B Smith.
Fawley’s line up against Langley Manor at Holbury has a family touch, with the experienced Dave Streather called up to play alongside son Brendan and the Parratt boys, Bailey and Connor looking to out-do one another.
Fawley: C Earl, Crossley, K Earl, E Streather, Munir, Edwards, Leach, B Parratt, Bryers, D Streather, C Parratt.
