Paultons' teenage off-spinner Liam Longland took six wickets for six runs to initiate a calamitous Hursley Park collapse at the Quarters.
Buoyant after last season's promotion after seven years in the Hampshire League wilderness, Hursley Park appeared set to celebrate their Southern Premier League return with a Division 3 victory.
Hursley took all the honours before tea, reducing Paultons to 78 all out with Ben Holden taking 4-22 and Oli Green 3-9, Longland making his first impact with 18 not out.
Hursley’s response stuttered from the start, losing three wickets in the first seven overs, two of them to Jordie Smith (2-13).
Will Flynn (18) semi-navigated Hursley to 40-3, but the introduction of Longland completely decimated the rest of the batting line up. Seven wickets fell without a single run being added to the total !
Longland took advantage of the conditions - and some tentative batting - and bowled with guile, flight and prodigious spin achieving the remarkable figures of 6 for 6 in three overs.
Five runs came off his initial over, but his second contained a hat-trick with Australian Paddy McNamara, Henry Sparks and Oli Green departing to successive deliveries.
Liam's brother Ethan nipped in to remove Flynn before Liam took the last three Hursley wickets in four deliveries to leave the hosts 40 all out.

Teenage talent Oli Webster hit 68 to lead Hook & Newnham Basics II out of early trouble and set up an eventually comfortable 108-run win over Southern Premier Division 3 rivals Fareham & Crofton at Bath Lane.
Hook had dipped to 33-3 when Webster [left] arrived at the crease to hit a six and seven fours and share a significant fifth-wicket stand of 71 with Tom Dyer (40). The visitors progressed to 158-4 before Tom Kent (3-12) dismissed both youngsters.
Hook went on to post 196, a total way beyond the reach of Fareham, who lost both openers to Shane Brewer (2-15) before Morgan Frost (27) and Jez Bulled stepped in.
But from 62-3, Fareham collapsed to 88 all out - seven wickets falling for 26 runs - Charlie Bland grabbing 3-19 and Jon Clark and Webster two each.
Sufian Munir (4-14) and Sam Davies 4-23) shared eight wickets to send Havant II crashing to 61 all out (Olly Perkins 25), a total Fawley polished off in quick time, with Tom Edwards and Gagendeep Khurana each scoring 24.
Like Havant, South Wilts lost a host of players over the winter months, but they prevailed against Trojans on za damp top at Bemerton, were Aussie Gary Freeman's 4-25 proved decisive. Trojans stumbled to 95 all out and lost by three wickets. Parley v Sparsholt sank in the midweek storms.
