GEORGE Neave and Jack Campbell, two of Liphook & Ripsley’s most promising young players, have signed dual registration, allowing them to play for both Liphook and Hampshire Academy in the British Gas Southern Premier League this summer
Neave, who formerly played for Headley in the I’Anson, is an out-and-out fast bowler, lethal and sometimes erratic, while Campbell made an impression with his great economy when opening the bowling for Liphook in the latter half of last season’s SPL Division One.
In addition, Neave is a stylish, extremely hard-hitting middle-order batsman, quite capable of turning a game round off his own bat.
Neave is expected to play most of his league cricket for Liphook. Campbell could play mostly for the county’s Academy. Both played for Hampshire 2nd XI in a recent early work-out against Devon.
Experienced seamer Charles Janczur will continue to captain Liphook 1st XI after taking over from Harry Munt midway through last season.
A boost for Liphook & Ripsley is the news that Ryan Covey is returning to his home club after two seasons with Sarisbury Athletic.
Covey will bolster the top-order batting and he also offers his own brand of ‘slow’ bowling.
Liphook are also hoping to recruit a new batsman, a friend of Suman Ganguly, who could slot in nicely at number 3.
For the first time, the club has entered the National Village Cup which has relaxed its qualification rules in order to attract new sides. They are away to Oakley, near Basingstoke, on April 30.
