Scarborough-based Folkton and Flixton, who play Liphook & Ripsley in the National Village Cup Final at Lord’s in two weekend’s time, are appealing to local businesses to come up with £8,000 to cover the costs of their trip to cricket's headquarters.
The team says: "Such an undertaking is very expensive for a club run by volunteers. Any help making the dreams of this team come true would be hugely welcomed by everyone at the club."
It’s little more than an hour for Liphook supporters to get to Lord’s by train, but would-be travellers should be aware there are scheduled engineering works on the track, with the 0836 the only suitable train into Waterloo to reach Lord’s in time for the 1100 start.
