Operation Mop Up has been in full swing in the Huntingdonshire hamlet of Eaton Socon this week ahead of Sunday's Village Cup fifth round tie against Southern Premier League Division 2 visitors Liphook & Ripsley - the winners of which will be in the national quarter-finals.
This was the scene after a storm of Biblical proportions hit Eaton halfway through last week's fourth round tie with Blackheath, which had to be decided by a bowl-out after the Surrey side had posted 148. With the RNLI unable to launch any lifeboats, Eaton Socon paddled across to the nets and celebrated a 4-1 stump hit victory. This is only their second season in the Village Cup in which Liphook were Lord's finalists two seasons ago.
