Liphook & Ripsley will go to Lord’s for next month’s National Village Cup final against Scarborough based Folkton & Flixton in the rather bizarre situation of having been relegated !
Their demotion from SPL1 was confirmed when Ventnor successfully defended 137 (James Cheek 31) to beat them by 42 runs at Ripsley Park.
Chris Russell and Rob Snell each took 3-16 as Liphook were dismissed for 95.
Last season’s champions Calmore Sports weren’t entirely sure of their safety at the start of play, but a James Manning led three-wicket win over relegated Hartley Wintney ended their anxieties.
Left-arm seamer Steve Wright (4-36) took the bowling credits as Hartley Wintney were dismissed for 120 (Dan Wrenn 39).
But Calmore lurched to 73-6 before Manning’s unbeaten half-century retrieved the situation.
