Conor Moors cracked a career-best 140 in Lymington’s pre-season friendly against Ventnor but still finished ln the losing side !
Making full use of a short Steephill boundary, Moors peppered 11 sixes and seven fours and shared sizeable partnerships with former Burridge & Fair Oak all-rounder Mo Abbas (31) and Dan Cox (40) as Lymington posted 265-8 (Oli Morgan 3-45).
Australian Lewis Martin (3-40) knocked over Ventnor’s top three and at 52-3, Lymington’s interim manager Tony Wharton began to order the celebratory drinks.
But he quickly put his wallet away when Ross Whyte (109) and Ben Attrill (95) plundered a 184-run fourth-wicket stand to sweep Ventnor to within touching distance of a four-wicket victory.
