Lymington lost nine wickets for 61 runs after cementing a solid base at 125-1 against the Hampshire Academy at the Utilita Bowl Nursery ground, where the county youngsters laboured to a three-wicket win.
All the good work by opening pair Ben Rogers (38) and Mo Abbas (71) went to waste as a succession of Lymington batsmen contrived to sacrifice their wickets, largely through poor shot selection.
The Academy's out-cricket wasn't of the highest order either - Abbas tucking into ten boundaries before he and Gareth Berg departed at 134. Abbas was the first of three victims for Jevan Chandhoke, who finished with 3-15.
Kamran Dhariwal (29) kept the innings afloat but Lymington suffered three more losses for nine runs to drop to 164-7 before leggie Zack Bazey, recovering from an elbow injury, got the ball coming out nicely and closed the innings with a 4-15 return.
Left-hander Finn Gordon (57) and Sam Ashman (41) provided the Academy with a solid 81-run base before Assad Abbas (2-31) broke through and triggered a mini-wobble.
Joe Eckland (35) saw three partners depart cheaply - two of them to Berg (2-48) - before Bryanston prospect Teddy Golding made a timely and patient 32 to get the Academy across the line. Adelaide's Louis Thompson took 2-27 on Lymington debut.
