An unbeaten half-century by Hampshire Under-15 prospect Josh Royan was one of the few positives Lymington could take from the six-wicket defeat at Alton that has dumped them second from bottom of the ECB Southern Premier League.
Royan hit 53 not out at a stage Lymington-49ers were rocking at 129-7, but with fellow teen Dan Cox (16) for company, guided the visitors to 221 all out.
Simon Beetham struck an early blow when Alton replied, but teenager Abhay Gonella (65) set the platform for half-century partnerships with England PD match winner Alex Hammond (39) and Scott Myers, which carried the Brewers to a comfortable win.
Ben Mortimer (3-46) caused the pre-lunch damage – only Ryan Scott (26) making his mark as Lymington-49ers dropped to 69-5.
Matt Metcalfe (34) and Josh Proctor (24) responded either side of the interval, but had it not been for Royan’s 53, Lymington would have had a meagre total to defend.
Later Myers went on to hit an unbeaten 79, adding 69 with Hugo Hammond (29) as Alton cantered home with time to spare.
